OMG I'm engaged!

So J popped the question! In the middle of the night, in the middle of the street (Diversy and Southport!). Very spontaneous - he pulled the car over to the side of the rode as we were driving home and got down on his knee. :) Amidst some tears and laughter I said yes. Of course. It was so spontaneous that he didn't even have a ring (which I will get back to in a second), and I love that he didn't have a big plan because I know it was what he really wanted in his heart. He's my soul mate and I'm beyond elated that we're going to spend our lives together.

The next day I began my wedding planning by picking up 6 bridal magazines at the local bookstore. My favorite so far is Bride's Magazine btw. I was overwhelmed instantly! I never really knew how much goes into a wedding - favors, save the dates, invites, menus, flowers, reception halls, etc. The list really does go on and on, and even typing it here is causing me to have a mini-breakdown.

We called the fam, told them the good news and then went to get a ring at one of the chain jewelry shops. Its a white sapphire instead of a diamond and we may eventually get a diamond ring, we may not. I haven't decided if I want one yet - I didn't wear jewelry until I got this ring and I don't know how I feel about diamonds. (Thoughts?) It's really a beautiful ring, and I love it because its simple and different. All of our engaged or married friends have pretty rings, but they all look the same. I will contemplate this one for a while.

Engagement ring purchased, we figured the next step was sitting down and talking about what kind of wedding be both want. And we both want very different weddings. Taking a look at our probable guest list, my dream of a quaint wedding of our closest family and friends (guest list not topping 100) is impossible because J's family is huge and is about 100 people itself. Even after crossing some dear friends off the list, our guest list is around 240 right now. Ugh.

To me the most important things are the look/feel of the venue, the decor and my pictures, and J wants to make sure that there is enough liquor. Lol, he's very predictable.
